What We Believe
The Scriptures
We believe that the Bible is the word of God, given by inspiration (2 Tim 3:16), such that “holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” (2 Peter 1:21). As such it is free from error (Prov 30:5), incapable of error (John 10:35), authoritative (Rom 3:4), and complete (Rev 22:18-19). We believe that God has preserved his word by his own power (Psalm 12:6-7), so that we have access today to his inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative and completed revelation.
God
We believe that there is one God (Deut 6:4), who has revealed himself to be eternally existent in three persons (1 John 5:7, Matt 28:19). The Father is God (John 6:27), the Son is God (John 1:1-4), and the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4). Scripture attributes to each divine titles, works, and attributes.
Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim 3:16, Col 2:9). As such he is both fully divine (Isaiah 9:6, Matt 1:23, Rom 9:5) and fully human (1 Tim 2:5, Rom 5:15, Phil 2:6-8). He was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matt 1:23, Luke 1:27, 34-35); he lived a sinless life (Heb 4:15, 2 Cor 5:21, 1 Pet 2:22); he died on a Roman cross for our sins, as our substitute (Heb 2:9, Rom 5:8, 1 Pet 2:24); he bodily rose from the dead on the third day (Acts 1:3, Rom 1:3-4, 1 Cor 15:20); and he ascended to the right hand of the throne of God (Heb 1:3, 12:2, Acts 1:9).
Salvation
We believe that the universal need of every man, woman, boy, and girl is to be born again (John 3:3). Thus, salvation is offered to every man, woman, boy, and girl, through the salvific work of Jesus Christ on our behalf (1 John 2:2, Rom 10:12-13). Man is not made just before God through the works of the law (Rom 3:20, Gal 3:11), nor through any works of righteousness which he can do (Titus 3:5). Rather, salvation is offered by grace alone, through faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ (Eph 2:8-9, Rom 4:21-25, 5:1); the gospel of Jesus Christ is “written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.” (John 20:31). We believe that God’s revelation of himself in the creation, the conscience, and the commandments are sufficient to render man without excuse for rejecting God (Rom 1:18-3:19).
